Coil built vase, glazed naturally by fire and ash in the Anagama . This vase was located in the very front of the 40ft long kiln where the fire box is located (see photo). There is no control in how the glaze and texture will turn out due to the unpredictability of wood firing. This piece is one of a kind!

During the firing, this vase and another vase fused together due to the extreme heat. I was able to detach the two vases but it left a mark (see photo). I don’t see this as a flaw, rather a reminder of the intense firing process these vessels are subject to.

The interior is lined with shino glaze, making the vase able to hold water for freshly cut flowers.
