Hello and welcome!
My name is Celina Roseman Stilphen. I am an artist, intersectional environmentalist, and educator.
Growing up on Tongva land (Santa Monica, CA), I formed a deep connection with the natural world. I spent my formative years hiking through canyons of oak trees and chaparral, observing each tidepool as its own intricate and tiny ecosystem, studying the way water flows, and finding beauty within every foraged rock, shell, and piece of driftwood.
This passion for nature followed me as I attended University of Oregon, where I studied Environmental Studies and Sustainability. Prior to becoming a full-time artist I worked in the environmental non-profit field, educating both children and adults about native plants, river restoration, and pollution prevention.
I currently reside on Chinook land (Portland, OR), and my connection with the natural world has become even deeper. Drawing on my environmental background, nature, textures, shapes, and vintage finds, I create small-batch handbuilt ceramics and fiber designs. Each piece is created with slow and thoughtful intention rather than produced quickly like a machine. Similar to nature, my style is imperfect, raw, abstract, and unpredictable.
I hope my art provides you with feelings of connection to Mother Earth and inspires you to take care of this planet and its people.
