Clay Play at While On Earth

Join Celina Roseman of Woven Earth Ceramics for an evening of Clay Play!

In this 3 hour workshop, you will learn the main handbuilding techniques (pinch, coil, and slab), then put them into practice with guided creative time to make up to two finished pieces. This workshop includes 2 lbs of clay per student, tools, optional underglaze for painting on illustrations, glazes of your choice (clear, white, black, or forest green), and kiln firings. If you’d like to fire more than two pieces, additional pieces can be purchased at the workshop for $10 each. 

Items will be fired and can be picked up at While on Earth 4-5 weeks after the class.

Beginner friendly! This workshop is for anyone who wants a relaxed, supportive environment to explore clay. Celina will be there to answer questions and provide hands-on guidance as you create.

While on Earth is not able to offer any refunds for cancelling your reservation less than 2 weeks before a workshop as this is a one woman show and I cannot recoup costs for myself or workshop instructors.

Handbuilding Mugs 101

Join us in making your new favorite mug from scratch in this hands-on, 2.5 hour workshop!

We’ll take you through the basics of creating the body of your mug (ready for delicious beverages to come!) before jumping over to adding your personal handle & simple decoration to make it your own. Work on two mugs throughout your time, and pick your favorite one to keep. We’ll finish up drying, firing, and glazing it for you -- ready in a few weeks for pick up.

Perfect for beginners, and returners alike, there is no experience required! Just be sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

As you enter the garden, you’ll choose your resting spot. From there, Jamie will guide you on a restorative sound journey where you will connect to your senses, set an intention and soften into deep rest.

As we wake from a dream state, we’ll slowly make our way to the table to enjoy fruit, cake, and tea while Celina gives us a tutorial on hand building with clay.

Then, with a little imagination and intention we will create a small vessel or object, perhaps a keepsake, to hold meaning and remind us of something every time we see it in our home or hold it in our hands.

* Your clay piece will need to be glazed and fired after the event and will be available for pick up a few weeks later.

WHEN: August 16th & August 30th from 11:00am - 2:00pm

WHERE: Private home in the SW, address shared upon registration

INVESTMENT: $80–$100, sliding scale. please choose the option that best aligns with your financial standing.

Making Menorahs

Celebrate a season of gathering and light with a hands-on ceramic workshop where you'll build and decorate your own menorah from simple slabs of clay. Whether you're making a piece for your holiday mantle or crafting a heartfelt gift, this workshop invites you to slow down and shape a meaningful heirloom from start to finish.

Celina will guide you through building the form, then help you bring it to life with personal, decorative touches.

This workshop is beginner-friendly, and we’ll glaze and fire your menorahs for you—ready just in time for the holidays.

  • Experience Requirement: None!

  • What to bring: Clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, hand towel, apron, and a notebook & pen.

  • What's included: Materials and tools for use during the workshop

  • What you'll be making: 1 menorah (~8" wide, ~3" tall)

Handbuilt Bowls

Learn how to design 2 bowls to hold all your warm meals during the cold winter months!

Students will learn how to use slab-building techniques to create up to bowls. Once bowls have been made, students will have the option to use underglaze to paint on decoration. Bowls with underglaze will then be glazed by Celina with a clear glaze. If students don’t want to use underglaze, they will have the option of picking out a glaze for Celina to apply after it’s been bisqued fired. 

Finished bowls can be picked up 3-3.5 weeks after class.

Hot Spiced Cider, wine by the glass, beer and various n/a options will be available for purchase!

Students will have the option to use carving tools for decoration and/or underglaze to paint onto their mug during the workshop. Mugs with underglaze will then be glazed by Celina with a clear glaze. If students don’t want to use underglaze, they will have the option of picking out a glaze for Celina to apply after it’s been bisqued. 

Finished mugs can be picked up 3-3.5 weeks after class.
